i'm bringing sexy back.

DAY 11: Santa Fe, NM [7.25.06]
venue: Warehouse 21
bands: Art of Abandonment, High Octane Hell Ride, USS Horsewhip, The North Atlantic

started off the day at hugo's house in albuquerque, where evan paid dallas ungodly amounts of cash and compliments to get her to trim his 'hawk. it came out dazzling:
the show was at this awesome place in santa fe called warehouse 21. it was the gnarliest place! there was a giant chair, a schoolbus painted green, and all sorts of awesome decorations:
...and they had a positive message for the youth of santa fe:
with some time to kill before the show, we had some fun with flash:
...and fun with the oversized chair in the parking lot:
...perhaps a little too much fun. so evan escaped the wrath of the chair!
which left noah as king-of-the-hill. looks like he's mistaking it for an oversized toilet:
BRL does their best Creed impression:
and, of course, dallas was there to film the whole thing:the stage at this place was rad - it was like a little room, equipped with windows, a door with the #5 on it, and drawings on the walls. my favorite was the one behind noah:
the north atlantic finished off the show with a bang:
and then we moved to a mad party with the north atlantic and uss horsewhip at elektra's house. the sound guy from warehouse 21, matt, is going to live there soon, and entertained us with his incredible christopher walken impressions. this is matt. he is the awesome:
BRL + me + dallas played a rousing game of scattergories... aaron, "gillion" is spelled with a g, not a "j" damnit! and yes, evan played the whole game sitting in a wheelchair:
and noah showed off his multi-tasking skills:
noah + aaron + dallas + i all slept in the van after an unsuccessful attempt at watching a movie on a laptop. tomorrow: back to phoenix. stay tuned, folks.

haven't you people ever heard of closing the goddamn door?

DAY 10: Albuquerque, NM [7.24.06]
venue: Atomic Cantina
bands: just BRL (but the Pharmacy played next door @ the Tiki Lounge - will post pics of them once we find evan's camera!)

welcome to new mexico!BRL played the 2nd-to-last ever trivia night @ the atomic cantina. since they were the first and only band playing, we had a lot of time to kill... so we played pool. safe to say, never again playing boys v. girls when both aaron and noah know what the shit they're doing with a pool cue:
the boys got their exercise in with a group push-up session on the street outside the bar:
...and noah showed his undercover skills as a male model:
evan, since when were you camera shy?
the show was rockin'. afterward, noah, evan and i played at trivia... and lost horribly. but at least the show was tight, and everyone dug BRL. even the random cyclist who was biking his way home from work stopped in to see the show:
evan tries to convince people that these jeans are $500 designer ripped jeans... but no, they're just from the gap:
posting stickers on the wall!
so these awesome kids hugo and goyo let us crash at their house... total sweethearts. we totally heart them both. hugo even made quesadillas and hot wings for his unexpected guests. yum yum!
lookin' good:
basically, it was an awesome pad and some awesome kids. noah and evan parked on the couch to watch american pie II... and there was the most beautiful message scrawled across the wall:
so that's all for albuquerque, but new mexico adventures to be continued in the next post.

i want to rock and roll all night.

DAY 9: El Paso, TX [7.23.06]
venue: Zeppelin's
bands: Zechs Marquise

during the 8-hour drive between phoenix and el paso, BRL decided to do something unheard of.... take a stop to see the THING!
it was the weirdest thing. we walked through this collection of warehouses filled with the most random things.... like the car that hitler drove, as pictured below (along with a life-size imitation hitler in the backseat):
...and apparently bay area pride is everywhere. "the thing...what is it?"
yes yes yes, the thing is, in fact, Mac Dre.
lovely Dallas poses unknowingly in front of the THING museum. an arizona native, she hopped along in the van to partake in the most excellent BRL adventures. say hi, Dallas!
once we got to zeppelin's in el paso, the boys were hungry... and noah showed his love for hot dogs by impressing us with his deep-throating abilities:
....as did evan:
BRL hangs out before the show with Michael from Zechs Marquise... and evan hangs out with his laptop:
oh yeah... there was the most intense compassion in action show at zeppelin's that night... or maybe it was just evan rockin' the drums... is he really playing? the world may never know:
BRL rocked an awesome set for the bar-goers that night:
then Zechs Marquise took the stage (right as my flash broke... sorry for all the red photos!). they had the most awesome projector screen in the middle of the stage and this guy was rockin' the most incredible pictures and doing all these crazy tricks with the light:
here's the projectionist:

that was it for El Paso... stayed the night at Michael's place and he and his fiance Steph were the most incredible hosts. thanks for everything... and we do mean EVERYTHING. el paso rocks.

and here's noah being pensive:
